Tips for the new semester

Now that you’ve settled into your classes, here are some library tips that will come in handy.

1. Reserves

By now your professors may have asked you to read a book chapter or article that’s on reserve in the library. All reserves are held at the circulation desk, and you can check which items are on reserve for your class by going to and searching for your class name (i.e. “Modern Art” or “Northern Renaissance”). Can’t find something that should be on reserve? Just ask and we’ll find it for you.

2. Moodle & Self-Service

The library is here to help with any questions about Moodle or Self-Service (formerly IQ Web). While we can’t reset passwords, we can do lots of other things, like show you how to submit assignments or use Moodle’s email function.

3. Ask a librarian

Nervous about an assignment coming up? Need to find the perfect book for your paper? Stop by the circulation desk or call x4054 and ask for a librarian–no question is too big or too small! Don’t forget to take a look at our research guides for each major.
