Moe Brooker Named Artist of the Year

Connelly Library would like to congratulate professor and chair of Foundation Moe Brooker on being named “Artist of the Year” at the 2010 Governor’s Arts Awards. Brooker was presented with the award by Governor Ed Rendell on November 30th. The award “recogniz[es] the artistic excellence of an artist living and working in Pennsylvania.”

Brooker  is one of the most prominent abstract artists in the Philadelphia region, renowned for his unique mixed media works conveying themes of joy and musicality. He was born and raised in Philadelphia and has been an artist and teacher for nearly 40 years, with works in national and international collections.
